Golden retriever, two bunnies and a brave budgie
Golden retrievers were bred as hunting dogs. Bailey's playmates are two baby bunnies and a budgie, and nobody has told any of them how this is supposed to go. more
The bunnies are brown and busy. The budgie is smaller still, white with blue markings. Bailey is the only one in the room big enough to cause trouble, and he's the one minding his manners. He sits back and lets the little ones come to him.
The bunnies have found someone smaller than they are, and they make the most of it. They sniff and nudge the budgie and press in close, and the bird takes all of it without flying off. Birds this size are usually skittish around anything bigger. This one just sits there and puts up with it.
SaveBailey wants in. His tail goes the whole time, and when the budgie hops a step he gets so excited that it comes out as a few barks. The bird doesn't move an inch. If anything, the budgie steps closer.
SaveThat is the part people cannot get over. Bailey is big enough to do whatever he likes with any of them. Instead he is gentle with all three, sitting there like a patient old man while the little ones mill around him, one eye on everyone.
SaveTo be fair to the budgie, plenty of people think the bird looks a little done with it all, polite but ready for some personal space. Others just admire the nerve, and one would hand the bird a medal for bravery and patience.
It's a bedroom in soft light, and three kinds of animal share it. The peace holds because the biggest one has decided to be careful and the smallest one has decided to stay put.
