Siamese kitten with a bent paw learns to walk
Sandra, a Siamese and a first-time mother, hardly lets her three kittens out of her sight. The one she keeps closest is Rudy, who was born with a paw that bends inward. more
The kittens are Fin, Chai and Rudy, pale little things for now, since Siamese kittens are born light and darken as they grow. Sandra used to keep company with her friend Frank, a bearded dragon who lives in a tank. Frank still tries to get her attention. With three babies to mind, Sandra mostly looks right past him.
SaveRudy's paw has been bent inward since birth, and Sandra makes sure he gets all the care he needs. Rudy himself isn't thinking about what he can't do. He's busy finding out what he can, and he is the first of the three to stand up and try to walk.
The three kittens chatter to each other while Sandra watches over them. Rudy is curious about everything, and when he notices Frank, he wants to get to know him.
A trip to the vet brings good news. The bent paw can be fixed, and Rudy gets a small cast with a little pink heart on it. Sandra stays beside him while he learns to get around in it. When the cast comes off, the tendon has lined up the way it should, and Rudy is as good as new.
SaveRudy wastes no time. He walks up the stairs and back down, then climbs into the tank with Frank. Frank has been on his own since the kittens came. Now he has a visitor again, one with four good paws.
