A 33-hour drive to give a blind dog a brother
Batty is a blind bulldog at a shelter in Sacramento. On the other side of the country, in Wisconsin, a blind pit bull named Soto is about to get some company. more
Batty was born with a rare defect in both eyes. As a puppy he was left at the shelter because his owners couldn't afford his care, and he came in filthy. Doctors think he likely came from a backyard breeder.
The shelter shares a short video of him, and his sweet nature comes through. Cassidy Kraus and Brett Weyers already have a blind dog, Soto, and they think Batty would be a perfect fit. They see the video and fall in love. These days, one call of "Where's Batty? Go get Batty" sends a dog racing across the grass.
SaveThere's one problem, and it is the map. Cassidy and Brett live across the country. So they drive from Wisconsin to Sacramento to pick him up, then drive him all the way back.
The drive takes 33 hours. Somewhere along the way they stop at a park for some playtime, and the kisses start.
SaveNow Batty and Soto are brothers in one loving family. Neither of them can see the other, but the love between them is easy to see.
