Soldier chases his rescue pup across the airport

In Syria, a German shepherd mix puppy had no one to look after her. When a captain asked for someone to take her on, U.S. Army Spc. Tyler Mosley said he would. more

Her name is Daisy. Tyler doesn't think she would have made it out there alone, since the dogs he saw were skinny and sick. He shared his rations with her, and she became his escape. "It took my mind off of being gone," he says.

Then Tyler came home to the U.S., and Daisy did not. He couldn't let that stand. He asked SPCA International for help, because he wanted to give her the love and the life she wouldn't have had there.

Daisy's trip was a long one. She went from Syria to Iraq, then to Germany, then to New York City, and finally to Florida, one airport after another.

At the end of the line, Tyler is waiting in his uniform. "Can I open it?" he asks. Soon he is hugging her, she's licking him, and her little tail is wagging. His eyes fill up, and he tells her how much he missed her.

Then, in his words, she decides to go for a little run. A grown soldier in camouflage chases a puppy through the airport, calling her name and telling her no in the highest voice he has. Daisy doesn't listen. Nobody watching wants her to.

In Syria, a German shepherd mix puppy had no one to look after her.

She was with him, he says, in the worst time of his life, and that made a huge difference. He wants to repay her with a life where she's loved and never has to wonder where her food will come from or whether she will be cold.

He can hardly believe how big she has grown since Syria. She still has plenty of running left in her, and Tyler, it seems, will follow her anywhere.
