After six years, Joe finally gets a haircut
Joe's parents never wanted him to have long hair, so of course he grew it. Almost six years later, it reaches past his shoulders and is longer than his girlfriend's. more
Joe waits tables at a restaurant in New York City. Kyan, a hair stylist with the Rachael Ray Show, happened to come in one day and talked him into handing his hair over to the show's makeover team.
His girlfriend, Angie, watches from the audience. She was there when Kyan first pulled out the scissors, and she cried. "I guess it's overwhelming to see the end of an era," she says. She has never even seen Joe with short hair. The tears, she says, were happy ones.
The room gets one more look at the old Joe, all waves and beard. "Dang, that's some hair. That's some sweet flow." Joe has already seen the new cut himself, and he was okay with it.
"Joe, come on out." He walks out to cheers, the waves gone and his face in full view. "You look hot," he hears. The long hair was fine, someone tells him, "but you looked a little dated. You looked a little hippie dippy."
Not everyone was ready to let the long hair go. A lot of people loved the old waves and wish he had kept them. Others say the short cut finally shows off his face, and a few compare him to Jon Snow.
Then it's Angie's turn. Asked what she thinks, she answers in three words, "I love you." The two of them get the go-ahead for a hug, with one rule. Don't touch his hair.
Save"They're so cute," someone says as they hug, and the pair is told they can stay up there together. Then Angie's fingers go right through his hair, the hair Joe was told to keep neat for the camera. The rule doesn't last.
