Reid skates and sings, rain or shine

Reid has Down syndrome, a pair of in-line skates and a song he loves. Put them together in a park and you get a show. more

The song is from The Greatest Showman, and Reid gives it all he has. He skates through the park under green trees and sings along as he goes.

Reid is no fair-weather skater. He performs here often, bad weather or not, and broken skates don't stop him either.

He explains it himself. He's expressing who he is, and "this is how I do it," he says. The point is to lift his friends' spirits. Asked why that matters to him, he says it's to "help my friends to see the positive things in life."

Reid explains that he wants to help his friends see the positive things in life.

His favorite part of life fits in one easy line. "Just being who I am and just having fun with it."

Then he names the dream. "Just have to pursue your dreams," he says, "and this is mine, to perform for a live audience." In the park, anyone walking by gets to be that audience.

Viewers write in from Ireland, Germany and Australia. One parent watched him while waiting for a baby boy with Down syndrome to arrive, and came away sure their son would have no limits. Another passes him almost every morning on the way to work and says he brightens it.
