Dorothy has a date on a Saturday night, and the whole house wants to know who.

The man is Dr. Lee Kagan, and Blanche, his patient for three years, cannot believe he picked Dorothy. Rose sums him up as 'hubba hubba zing zing.' Later Dorothy comes home and says the night was wonderful. Asked what kind of man doesn't walk a girl to the door, she has her answer ready: 'One who's too exhausted to walk.'

Dorothy only agrees to a blind date with Jack because her mother insists, and it goes well until he thanks Mrs. Contini, the matchmaker who set them up. Dorothy tells him she will be in the Florida State Women's Prison, for murder. At home Sophia greets her with 'Hi, pussycat,' and Dorothy answers, 'Say goodbye, old woman.' When Dorothy complains that the matchmaker found her a criminal, Sophia has one correction. 'White collar.'

Frank works with kids and goes by his first name, because he thinks formal titles can scare people. Dorothy invites him home for dinner. When he shows up, Blanche learns why he skips the title. He's a priest. 'You're the hunk?' she says, and then, 'I mean, forgive me, father.'

Ted had a crush on Dorothy when they were kids. Out dancing, they remember the jitterbug at Roseland and the night Stan, her ex-husband, did a walrus with straws up his nose. Ted says he has something important to ask her, and then Stan cuts in.

Stan is sure Ted is about to propose, because Ted has booked two seats to Acapulco, where Stan and Dorothy got married. Dorothy tells him it is none of his business. Stan sits down with them anyway and warns Ted that she snores like a freight train. It turns out Ted isn't proposing at all. He met a stewardess on his flight, she can only go to Acapulco if he finds a sitter for her two kids, and he was hoping Dorothy would do it.

Raymond has a different problem. Sophia turns up wherever he and Dorothy go, until every date is a party of three. At one dinner, Dorothy looks at the crab on her plate, decides it reminds her of her mother, and smashes it to bits.

The last date is Blanche's Uncle Lucas, and the two of them get along well enough to cook up a plan: a fake wedding, to get back at Blanche. When Lucas gets to the big question, Rose is sure he is only working up to asking Dorothy out again, and Dorothy has to stop and glare at her, twice, before he can finish. Blanche's face when he proposes is exactly what they were hoping for.

The prank doesn't stay a prank. Dorothy marries Lucas, and the roommate Blanche and Rose spent years teasing is the one who ends up at the altar. She points out the best part herself. Whatever Blanche decides to call her now, it had better start with Aunt Dorothy.
