Picky otter falls hard for a flying toy
Kotaro is a picky otter, and most toys never win him over. A little pink propeller that flies across the living room is a different story. more
His human sends it into the air, and Kotaro runs to wherever it went. If it drops out of sight, he hunts hard in the spot where it last fell. When he finds it, he chews on it.
SaveHana wants a turn. She goes after the propeller a few times, but Kotaro is too fast for her.
Sometimes Kotaro carries the toy back to his human, and that earns him a treat. Then he sits up straight and watches the air, waiting for the next flight.
SaveHana tries a smarter plan. She gives up the chase, lies down nearby and looks cute. The treats come to her anyway, while Kotaro keeps running.
SaveThere's a second way to play. Launched straight down, the propeller spins like a top on the floor. Kotaro seems to like this even more. He watches it twirl, then grabs it with his hands.
At one point his human gives him the toy so he can launch it himself. He can't make it fly. He isn't tired, though, so back to the game they go.
SaveWhen the propeller is his, Kotaro holds it with his front legs and slides across the floor on his belly. Then he starts stashing the propellers in one of the slippers, one picky otter's idea of a toy box.
