A Great Dane chef and about 400 cookies
Maddie the Great Dane comes to her family's cookie decorating party in a chef's hat and apron. She hears a quick "no, no, no, no," then gets a cookie anyway, right out of her mom's hand. more
After that, she leaves the work to the humans. The cookies are bound for a Great Dane club, and there are far more of them than Mom let on, about 400 by a conservative guess. Maddie, black and white and dressed for the part, stands among the counters like she is running the place.
SaveRunning the place mostly means sniffing it. She works her way around the kitchen nose first, and her hat keeps sliding off to one side until her dad steps in to set it straight. Her tail wags through all of it.
The decorating runs like a small factory. One of the decorators, Ashley, outlines the cookies in icing, and from there they go on to flooding, drizzling and sprinkles. There's wine, too. The finished cookies look good enough to sell.
SaveNear the end comes what the family calls the judging section, the Westminster of cookies, named for the famous dog show. These are the best of the batch.
Plenty of the cookies are Great Danes, white with black markings, much like the chef. One stands out from the rest because it looks just like Maddie. In the voice the family uses for her, she declares herself Best in Show.
SaveShe has already shown how she feels about cookies. Considering how the night began, someone should put that one up high, though with a Great Dane in the kitchen, high may not be high enough.
