Shelter pit bull Puddle goes home as Sonny

Puddle's first owners used her to have puppies, then abandoned her. She reached the shelter with her body still showing it. more

Being a pit bull made things harder. People didn't want to adopt her because of her breed. One caption in the video speaks for her. She's sorry if she scared you, because she didn't know she was a pit bull.

The rescue group Sidewalk Specials stepped in, and Puddle moved to a foster home. Her fosters put out a plea for someone to adopt her. The timing could hardly have been worse. It was Christmas, not the season most people go looking for a pit bull with a rough past.

Someone came anyway. A couple adopted her on Christmas.

She got a new name, too. Puddle is now Sonny, and her new mom and dad adore her.

She has also been through behavior therapy classes and learned the right way to act around people. She went from shelter to foster home to a home that is hers for good.

The name Puddle stayed behind with the shelter and the hard start. Sonny is the dog who got the family.
