Years later, a husky spots her old pit bull pal
Laika the husky and Rook the pit bull met as puppies and hit it off at once. Then their people's lives changed, and the play dates stopped. more
Rook is a white pit bull with a dark patch around one eye, and Laika is a husky. Their time apart isn't a few weeks. It's years.
On Valentine's Day, Rook and his people come up the walkway to Laika's house. Laika rushes to the front door and looks out, and she knows him right away. Her ears stand up as sharp as they can go and her tail starts to wag.
SaveThe door opens and her nose goes out first, for a good sniff of her old friend. Once Rook is inside, there's no warming up. They jump around, lick each other and slip into the same pretend fight they had as pups. Nobody barks or growls, and it's as if they had never been apart.
Later, outdoors, the two grown dogs stretch out on the ground among the leaves. All that wrestling has to stop sometime.
SaveA love song plays over all of it. That might seem like a lot, but for these two it fits.
