Goat kids out for a walk at 12 hours old

Bumble and Bee are about 12 hours old, and they're already out walking the field with their mother. more

Bumble is the brother and Bee is the sister, a pair of Nubian goat kids with light brown coats that look almost blond in the sun. Each one wears a small flower collar. Their mother, Mama Claire, walks with them across the grass inside a white fence.

Mama Claire stays close as Bumble and Bee head out across the field.

Mama Claire keeps the walk moving. Now and then she gives the kids a push to move them along, and off they go again on very new legs.

These two do not walk quietly. They squeal and bleat as they go, chatting back and forth in high little voices. People who follow Sunflower Farm Creamery love the noise as much as the walk.

The real surprise is how much they can already do. A human baby at 12 hours old is nowhere near walking. Bumble and Bee are covering ground, stopping to look around at a world they have known for half a day, then off again, quicker than you would think.

Through all of it, Mama Claire keeps a close eye on them. Two new kids make a lot of noise, and she does not seem to miss a bit of it.
