Goat moms keep eating with kids on their backs
Give a baby goat a resting mother and it sees a hill. Up it goes, hooves planted on her back. more
This is a normal day for the goats of Sunflower Farm Creamery, where the kids have made riding on mom into a sport. They hop up, find their balance and stay put, even when she shifts and moves under them.
SaveThe mothers take it well. Some don't even stop eating. A kid climbs on, a kid climbs off, and mom keeps chewing as if nothing has changed. Over it all plays an old-school tune that one fan called totally 80s, and it fits.
Things get crowded fast. A bunch of kids pile into a huddle against the boards, and one ends up standing on top of another kid's back. Moms, it turns out, aren't the only ride.
SaveGoat fans had one main thought, and it was about the moms. Several said the moms never get a break. Many praised how patient they are, and one said mom was letting the kids walk all over her. In this barn, that is not a figure of speech.
SaveWhen the riding winds down, the herd settles into the hay. Some lie down. One is still eating, of course.
SaveThe kids will be back up on somebody's back soon enough. For now, the moms get to eat in peace.
