Two ducklings pick a kitten as their mom

All a kitten wants is a quiet nap in her pink basket. Two ducklings have other plans. more

Kikig is a fluffy British Shorthair kitten with blue eyes and light golden fur. She's stretched out in her pink basket, ready for a long, easy nap, when she gets company.

The first duckling hops in and settles beside her, a small yellow puff against all that fur. Kikig stays right where she's and lets the little one stay.

The second duckling is shyer, and getting in takes real work. This one isn't about to be left out, though. One viewer admits to cheering out loud for the little one trying to get into the nest.

Then it climbs in at last, and the basket holds a kitten and two ducklings. Kikig gets to work on the first one, grooming it the way a mother cat cleans a kitten.

Warmth is part of the draw, but the ducklings seem to want her touch most of all. Kikig grooms the little ones as if they were hers, and they nuzzle in close.

Then the nap wins. Kikig wraps the ducklings in a hug as she dozes off, and all three drift to sleep in the pink basket.

Comments come in from all over, in Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and more. One Russian saying shows up twice, that in the animal world there is no such thing as someone else's children. Kikig, asleep with two ducklings in her arms, hasn't read a word of it.
