Quaker parrot sees a cat and quotes Tweety Bird
Tango the Quaker parrot knows one line from the cartoons, and the sight of a cat brings it right out. Diesel, the cat in question, isn't sure what to make of it. more
Tango is a green Quaker parrot, standing on a wooden table at home. Close by, his owner holds Diesel the cat in her arms. The two animals are old friends, and Tango has known Diesel since Diesel was a kitten.
SaveTango stares at the woman and the cat in her arms. Then, out of nowhere, he does his best Tweety Bird. With a lisp straight out of the cartoons, he says he thought he saw a puddy cat. His owner lights up, nods and tells him that yes, he did.
This is the part people love most. When she tells him he did, Tango doesn't just copy her. He turns her words around and agrees that he did, the way a person might in a real chat.
SaveDiesel stays in her arms through all of this and looks confused. Viewers have their own ideas about why. Some think he is upset at being called a puddy cat. Others think he is shocked that Tango broke the first rule of pets, which is never to talk in front of the humans.
Then Tango says the line again as he walks away, and his owner laughs, still holding Diesel. People who keep Quaker parrots say these birds can learn a lot of words. Tango seems to have picked the one sentence a cat least wants to hear.
