Puppy Rocky begs a kitten for boops

Rocky is a German shepherd puppy, and Simon is a kitten a fraction of his size. In a warm, sunlit room, the kitten is the one throwing punches, and the puppy can't get enough of it. more

Simon is white with brown on his ears and the top of his head, and he carries himself like the biggest animal in the room. He's not. Rocky is black and tan, still all puppy, and already far bigger than his friend. The room has purple cushions and daylight behind the curtains, and the two of them get to work.

Simon takes the lead. He jumps and darts around Rocky, gets a paw in, and bounces away. Rocky takes the boop and comes right back for another, which is the whole joke: a small cat handing out boops and a big puppy lining up for them.

Rocky is careful about it. He could end the game in a second and never tries. He steps around Simon instead of over him, and his pounces stay light. Gentle is the word people use for him most, and it fits.

Simon has no brakes and no need for any. He holds his ground and knows how to wrestle, and the two tumble and roll through what amounts to a game of tag.

Eventually they take a break. Rocky stretches out on the bed, and Simon rests close beside him.
