Kittens turn a German shepherd into a jungle gym

He meets the litter the way a big dog meets anything new and small, with his head low and his nose working. The kittens do not scatter. They squirm toward him and start to climb, and Rocky's brown eyes go wide, caught somewhere between curiosity and confusion. For a dog built to stand guard, this is a new kind of problem.

The ginger kitten is the bold one, reaching up to bat at Rocky's nose, and the huff of surprise that comes back is enough to send the little one tumbling backward. Against Rocky's coat this kitten nearly disappears, as if the two were made to match.

Then the tail starts. Just a twitch at first, then a real wag, and the kittens read it for what it is. They clamber over his paws, pounce on the swishing tail and nestle into the thick fur around his neck. The dog who was supposed to be the guard has become the playground, and every move he makes is slow and careful.

The comments call him Uncle Rocky and the best babysitter around, a gentle giant whose kisses, as one person put it, are as gentle as his honkin' nose. At one point the kittens are piled around him on a bed with flowered pillows. By the end, as another viewer notices, Rocky looks happy.
