Baby rhino dances in the shower at 11 days old

At four days old, this rhino calf was grumpy about his shower. One week later, he dances in it. more

He's a greater one-horned rhino calf at the Toronto Zoo, and he started out small and shy. In those first days the only thing he cared about was staying close to his mother. Everything else could wait.

His first shower came at four days old. His mother loved it and rolled around under the water. Her calf didn't care for all that splashing.

By day eleven he is a different animal. The keepers turn on the shower and he dances around in the spray like it's Christmas. It took less than a week to win him over.

He's still finding his balance, so the dance has a wobble in it. At one point he stands with his head turned and his ears up, wet skin shining. His mother watches it all, and she is happy to see it.

A grown greater one-horned rhino can weigh up to 4,900 pounds, so this one has a lot of growing to do. For now he is busy dancing in his indoor pen while the water runs.
