UPS driver laughs off a squirrel on his shoulder

Most squirrels see a person and bolt up the nearest tree. This one saw a UPS driver waiting at a front door and decided to climb him instead. more

It's a gray winter day, and the trees are bare. He has rung the bell and is waiting for someone to answer, idly tapping on the package in his hands. Behind him, a squirrel has crept onto a ledge and is sizing him up.

Then it jumps, and lands square on his shoulder. He glances to his right, sees what it is, and leans forward to give it an easy way down. The squirrel takes this as an invitation. It scrambles up his back and onto his head.

This is where most of us would shout, or at least drop the box. He laughs. He's still giggling when the squirrel hops down and heads back the way it came, and still laughing when the door opens at last.

What stays with you is how calm he is. He taps on the box like he has all day, and a squirrel on his head hardly bothers him. One viewer wondered if the squirrel took his gray knit hat for a very large acorn.
