Barefoot bridesmaids go from ballet to hip-hop
The bride and her bridesmaids step onto the reception floor barefoot, in matching dresses, with nearly eight minutes of dance ready to go. more
They open with ballet. The steps are graceful, more recital than wedding, and the matching dresses make the line look even neater. The bride and her maid of honor made up the routine themselves.
Then the beat changes, and so do they. Ballet gives way to hip-hop and the room starts cheering. One guest screams her approval again and again. At one point white hats go up over their heads.
SaveNone of this looks thrown together. These women have danced together before, and it shows in how cleanly they move as a group. Later they stand near the microphones holding lengths of green fabric.
SaveIn the middle of it all, the bride stops for a moment, teary-eyed and laughing with her friends. Then she steps out for a solo, and for a few seconds the room watches only her.
SaveA few people have asked whether this was a wedding or a show, and the fair answer is a bit of both. The group comes back together for the finish and the applause rolls in. The bride, still barefoot, is all smiles.
