Teen drill team plays tricks on your eyes

Before they move a muscle, the girls of the Enigma dance team are holding the room. They stand in a fierce opening pose, dressed exactly alike, perfectly still. more

Then the beat drops, and they go all at once. This is drill dance, a style that mixes the drama of cheerleading with the snap of military drill. Every arm hits at the same moment. Every girl lands on her mark.

The real trick is in the shapes. Each dancer's moves are crisp, but together they build bigger patterns that slide from one surprise to the next, like a kaleidoscope turning. Follow one girl and you see sharp, careful steps. Take in the whole team and the picture keeps changing.

Before they move a muscle, the girls of the Enigma dance team are holding the room.

About two and a half minutes in, six of them stand facing forward with their hands raised. It's the moment people go back to watch most. Enigma lives up to its name. They match from head to toe and let the dancing do all the talking.

Late in the routine, six of the dancers stand together with their hands raised.

Staying this tight as a team takes focus and stamina. From the opening pose to the final beat, nobody on that stage is a toe out of place.
