Dublin Airport gets a surprise Irish dance

People passing through Dublin International Airport weren't expecting a show. They got one anyway, from a crowd of Irish dancers in plain white T-shirts. more

The dancers are the cast of Take The Floor, and not all of them are from Ireland. The cast comes from 11 different countries and counts more than 60 of the world's leading Irish dancers. Here they dance to music by Beoga.

They move as one, in tight step, with the airport's direction signs and a golden sculpture behind them. Most of them are grinning. Irish dance goes back centuries, and it looks right at home in a modern terminal.

One fan asks people to think of all the hours that went into each of those dancers. All that work, just to give the rest of us a little bit of joy.

Another noticed what the dance did to the airport itself. For one moment, everyone stood still, not rushing and not talking. In a building made for hurrying, that may be the best trick of the day.

Kind words come in from England, Bavaria, Toronto and Italy, and two English fans wish they had more Irish blood. One fan says this very flash mob is what got them into Irish dance.

A fan in Bulgaria called it the best way to say welcome. Another hopes for exactly this greeting when they finally make it to Ireland.
