The golden retriever Santa left under the tree
A little shelter sits in the snow, strung with Christmas lights, with a sock hung on it for a stocking. Under it, a golden retriever waits alone. more
A small Christmas tree stands nearby, and snow lies all around. The dog has a light dusting of it on his coat. The scene is pretty, and it's no place for a dog. Jeffrey Pratt's short film Believe tells the rest in about three minutes, with no dialogue and only three characters.
The second one is Santa. He comes through the snow and gives the dog some kind attention. Then he brings him into the barn and gives him a bath. He takes his time, and he washes the dog's head with great care.
Once the dog is dry, he gets a new collar with his name on it. He is Buddy. And once again Buddy waits, patient as ever, to find out what Santa has in mind.
Next, Buddy is sitting under a Christmas tree in a living room, with the lights glowing around his head. Then little feet in Christmas pajamas come padding down the stairs.
SaveThe third character is a little boy. He finds his new dog and pets him, and Buddy's tail starts to wag. No actor could fake that wag.
SaveLater the boy opens his presents while Buddy sits and watches. At one point the dog looks up toward the sky, with something close to thanks on his face.
