How a paralyzed dog got back on his paws
When rescuers find Khan lying near a stream, he can only move his head a little. His tail still wags, just barely. more
He's alive, but the rest of him will not move. Someone had hurt him badly and left him out in a field. The rescuers get him to an animal hospital, and the long part begins.
It takes weeks and weeks of treatment. Khan seems glad to have people on his side, but much of the work is his to do. Then one day he is back on his paws, walking on a leash along a tiled sidewalk near some outdoor chairs.
SaveFor a dog whose legs wouldn't move at all, every step is a win. Seeing him walk is the moment that makes so many people cry.
Khan has a home now, with a human of his own. He still walks with some effort, but he gets where he's going.
SaveLater he comes back for a checkup. Four of the people who saved him gather around the exam table, hands on him and smiling, and Khan looks every bit as happy to see them.
SaveThe tail tells the story best. In the field it could hardly move. Now it hardly stops.
