Alaska farm dogs get a heated Dog Mahal
Up in Alaska, a doghouse needs more than four walls and a roof. This one is insulated and heated, and its builder gave it a grand name to match, the Dog Mahal. more
The build takes him about 25 hours. He insulates the inside and fits it with a heat lamp, and he expects the house to last his dogs a long time.
His dogs are a German shorthaired pointer, a Bichon Frise and a black Labrador, and home is a farm with a red barn and a wooden porch. One viewer joked that a dog spends the whole build asking whether the house is ready yet.
Once it's done, he says the dogs love it. The heat lamp is the big hit, along with the warm, insulated inside. On a cold Alaska day, that beats a plain wooden box with a door.
SaveAt the very end comes a quieter moment, a goodbye to a dog he lost. It fits a man who just spent 25 hours making sure his dogs stay warm.
