In the snow, a stray dog begs for her puppies

It was the middle of winter in Serbia, the snow was deep, and a stray dog kept walking up to every person who went by. more

Someone called the Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac about a stray dog in a drainpipe, and the team went out to find her. She was shivering, but she would not stop going back into the pipe.

So the rescuers looked inside. In there, out of the snow, were three tiny puppies. That was why she kept asking strangers for help.

The team named the mother Hera. She was used to people and let the rescuers come close. The puppies were another story. They were scared and wouldn't come out, so the team had to find a clever way to get them free without hurting them.

It was nearly dark by the time all three puppies were out of the pipe, unharmed, and back with their mom. Hera has huge eyes, and the look she gives her rescuers then is easy to read.
