Grandma tries red hair and calls for the firemen
Kelly Harlan's makeover began with a puzzle. Just as she pulled in, fire trucks started arriving, and then a few more. more
Her own introduction is short. She's from Hartsburg, Missouri, she just became a grandmother for the first time, and "that's about it."
At first she wondered if something was wrong. Then she figured it out. The firemen were there, she says, because "by the time we leave, we are going to be so smoking hot. We're going to burn the place down."
Christopher Hopkins, known online as The Makeover Guy, cut her hair, curled it and changed the color. He kept the makeup natural. When she sees the finished look, all she can get out is "Oh, my God." He asks her one simple thing. "Are you beautiful?"
SaveThen come the tears. She holds a tissue to her face, and Christopher keeps things light. "The more you cry, the more money we make," he cracks.
SaveRed hair was never in her plans, not in a million years. Now she says it makes her feel a lot better about herself, and it will give her more confidence at work. "I'm a woman in a man's world," she says.
People who watched agree on the color. It suits her skin, they say, and it makes her eyes stand out. One fan thinks she looks ten years younger, and plenty of people love the curls.
She saves her best line for the very end. "Where are the firemen?"
