Shy boy asks the tough kid to a Christmas party
Christopher is a shy kid with a party flyer and a list of friends to invite. Getting all the way to a front door turns out to be the hard part. more
It starts at breakfast. Christopher is eating his cereal when he spots a flyer for a Christmas party in the neighborhood, and it tells him to invite his friends. So he makes a list.
SaveAt the first houses on that list, he loses his nerve before he reaches the door. At the third house he finally knocks. Nobody answers.
That's when Drew, the tough kid, comes up behind him. Christopher hands him the flyer and runs.
After that, he gets bolder. Soon he is handing flyers to everyone at school, and his friends pitch in on the harder job, which is getting Drew to come.
SaveThen Christopher finds out that Drew carves wood. He asks him for a favor, a sheep for the nativity scene at the party.
The three men of GENTRI sing through the whole story in suits, telling it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere. Partway in, the song slides into a different "Joy to the World," the one about joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea and joy to you and me.
The party comes, and Drew shows up after all, holding a small box. Inside is a wooden sheep he made. It joins the other wooden figures in the nativity scene.
SaveDrew smiles wide enough to show his braces. Christopher smiles right back.
