Bad Lip Reading gives the Avengers a twang
Bad Lip Reading keeps every scowl and stare from the Avengers and gives the heroes brand-new lines in a backwoods drawl. What comes out sounds like a small-town soap opera in superhero suits. more
It even has a theme song. "Protectin' the red, white, and blue," it goes, "and even some non-Americans too. God bless them, Redneck Avengers." A "previously on" recap follows, with gossip about somebody's sister and Lee Murphy under the bridge. Then comes a grave report from the team: "Guys, the nachos are spicy. I can't stand it."
The heroes have other worries. One wants everyone to look at his pajamas, because they're fancy. Another points out that his are leather. When somebody's stomach turns, the cause is named on the spot: "I told you, it was them donuts. It was too many." A fight over a sweaty knife includes a cry of "I don't want your dang knife," which seems fair.
Then there's the pig. Somebody spits out a bite and wonders why it didn't taste right. Asked if he likes pig, he says he does, "but if that's pig, I'm a baboon." The reply is bone dry: "Hey, you said it. Not me."
A long-haired hero in armor grabs a shoulder and lays out the charge. "You have been texting Rachel adorable emojis, and it's creepy." The only defense is a crisp "Call Violet," a burp in somebody's face, and a flat "Nuh-uh" when asked about it.
SaveRomance arrives with no warning. "Trisha, I think I'm in love," one hero says. "Say what?" He knows they are family, but he wants to know who says they can't be together. "I say" comes next, at full volume. The follow-up talk is short and thorough. She likes you? Yeah. You seen her tattoo? Yep. You got a kazoo? Yeah. Man, this is crappy.
SaveFood keeps splitting the team. Somebody gets nagged about his carrots, somebody's stash has been raided, somebody else can't find his beef jerky, and the guilty party has the best excuse of the day: "I might have borrowed it for its flavor." A talk about whether a grandma can lift weights ends with a harsh verdict. "She's basically spaghetti."
Loki gets a love scene too. It includes "my daddy doesn't want me to flirt with you, but I want to," drifts toward a date at the old bridge, and hits a snag named little Buddy Sweeney. "He and I squabble now," one of them admits. Fair enough, "since you ran over his horse." It all ends with an order to run to Piggly Wiggly for Skittles, cigarettes and a big pouch of Big League Chew.
SaveThe "on the next" teaser packs in more than most whole shows. Somebody is loved for donkey feet and a Beanie Baby collection. Somebody explains, "Of course I'm drinking. I'm bored, Hank." Somebody doesn't have the bestest wig on. Then the theme song comes back around, still asking God to bless them, Redneck Avengers.
