Two rescued calves who go everywhere together
Redding rode to Sleepy Pig Farm Animal Sanctuary in the back of a car. The Holstein calf had hardly been outside before, and as the only cow on the farm, he acted like he owned the place. more
He was sweet from the first moment Tiffany and Joe met him. For a long time he lived with their pigs and got along with every one of them, when he wasn't busy handing out kisses. Still, Tiffany knew he deserved a friend of his own kind.
When they heard about Sadie, they said yes right away. She had also come out of neglect, and she was afraid of people, nervous about being touched at all. Trust came slowly, until she found out about head scratches and decided Tiffany and Joe were worth knowing.
Sadie spent her first month in quarantine. When it ended, it was time to meet Redding. The two calves weren't sure what to do with each other at first, but that didn't last. Soon they were licking each other's ears, and Sadie was running around the pen like a baby deer, all legs.
SaveOut on the grass, the pair became one unit. Wherever Redding went, Sadie followed close behind. They ran the field together for no reason but fun. Tiffany says they are perfect for each other because they're opposites. Redding is a 700-pound puppy who gets in trouble a lot. Sadie is sweet and gentle, and he needs her around to keep him in line.
SaveWith the two of them romping around the yard, it's easy to forget that both came out of neglect. Now they have a field to run in and each other to run with. Redding still hands out kisses. Sadie, who was once scared of every hand, wants nothing more from people than a good head rub.
