Office lamb saves his headbutts for one coworker
"I brought my lamb every day to the office." That's how Megan begins the story of Graham, and the minute he came through the door, her coworkers fell for him. more
Of all of them, Britney was his favorite. At lunch Megan would set him down on the floor, and he would run right over to Britney and start headbutting her. She would sit on the floor with him for an hour straight.
He didn't really play with Megan. "It's almost like he knows, 'That's my mom. I'm not really supposed to beat up on her,'" she says. But the second she got up to leave the room, he was after her, as if to say, "Wait, Mom. Don't forget about me."
SaveHe hadn't always been this lively. When Megan first met Graham, he was in a lot of pain. One of his legs was broken, and the farmer had surrendered him to her. "I was really thankful that I was able to help him," she says.
Graham needed major surgery, and once he felt better he became what Megan calls a wild man. He tried to climb the walls and jump on things. Left at home, all that bouncing could have slowed his healing, so he came to work instead.
The two of them fell into a routine. In the morning they drove in together, and Graham went into his little pen. After a lunch hour with Britney he was so tired that he slept the rest of the afternoon, and in the car he curled up on Megan's lap and dozed off.
SaveThen the vet gave the green light. "It's a big day, buddy. We're going outside," Megan tells him. Out on the grass he took to two other lambs, Olive and Squirt, right away, and the three of them became a little trio.
Graham is an outside lamb now, so his office days are over. Britney still asks how he's doing, and she loves getting the updates and all the pictures.
