Texas woman keeps finding dogs with panda faces

Carly has loved pandas since she was a little girl. Then a pit bull with a panda's face came off the streets of Texas, and she turned out to be the first of three. more

One look at Panda's face, white with a black patch over each eye, and Carly knew this was her dog. Panda turned out to be the reason Carly could foster at all. She is so social that the foster puppies love her, and she helps look after them. The rest of the time she is happy to chill, a lot like a real panda bear.

Then Carly saw a puppy at a shelter who looked like Panda in puppy form. "There's no way that two panda puppies found me in Texas," she remembers thinking. The minute he met Panda, she knew Dallas was part of the pack.

Dallas latched onto Panda right away. Carly thinks he took one look and decided that a dog who looked so much like him had to be his mom. When Panda lies down a certain way, Dallas lies down the same way. He was there to stay, and the two are best friends.

Then came a snowstorm, and a litter of puppies was found out in a field. In his photo, one of them, Cannoli, looked just like her two. Carly didn't have room for a third dog for good, but she wanted to give him a second chance, so she took him in as a foster.

She left Cannoli in the living room with Panda and Dallas, and it was the sweetest thing. Cannoli seemed to decide they were his mom and dad, and the two older dogs took the job. They showed him the ropes, which in this house mostly means how to be loving.

Dallas had never been around a puppy that small, and Carly wasn't sure how he would react. He was playful from the start and groomed Cannoli all day, every day.

Cannoli found a home of his own within two weeks, which Carly calls bittersweet. She feels most people look the other way at dogs with markings like these. To her they are special, and she plans to keep rescuing and fostering dogs that look like panda bears.
