The boxer who rides in back to watch the baby
This couple wanted a puppy and a baby, and figured the puppy should come first. The same day they picked up a boxer named Bruno, the pregnancy test came back positive. more
They looked at each other and thought, "What have we done?" Bruno had no such worries. He spent the pregnancy bouncing his toys off Mom's belly, and most of all he wanted to cuddle her.
The evening he met baby Arthur, Bruno stayed right beside him and wouldn't move. He kept sniffing, trying to get closer for a better look. One parent stepped out for a minute and came back to find Bruno lying next to the baby. As they put it, that was when Bruno decided, "This is fine. He's my brother."
SaveHe has been a little obsessed ever since. Bruno is playful and cuddly and hands out big kisses. When the two snuggle on the sofa, he always jumps up to get next to Arthur, and for a young dog he is really gentle.
Car rides changed too. Bruno used to sit in the front seat. Now he likes to ride in the back with the baby, where he can keep an eye on his little brother.
SaveOn walks, Arthur rides in the pram and Bruno walks beside him. Sometimes he tries to get ahead so he's out in front. And when Arthur is in his walker, he wants to play with Bruno.
Plenty of boxer owners know the type, playful at home and very protective of the kids in the family. Bruno already has both sides down.
Ten months in, the two are inseparable. They share their toys and keep each other company. Arthur had a big brother waiting for him before he was even born, and Bruno has been on duty ever since.
