This bulldog's favorite toy is a bowl
Theo is a very mellow white bulldog. The only time he shows any real energy is when he's kicking his metal bowls around the house. more
It started when he was a puppy, and it stuck. "It's almost like a pacifier, like a security blanket," his family says. With a bowl close by, he's comfortable and relaxed, and sometimes that bowl is in his mouth.
SaveThey have no idea why. They've tried giving him other toys, and he doesn't seem to care. As they put it, "It's all he cares about."
He uses them as toys. He eats out of them. When he's tired, he sleeps with them. Bowls turn up all over the house, all day long. Out on the patio, one still holds his water.
SaveNone of this is quiet. Metal bowls clang when they get kicked, and Theo kicks them everywhere. His family takes it in stride.
So Andrew has a surprise. What Theo doesn't know is sitting in a box, and the box is full of new stainless steel bowls.
SaveThey open it up to see what happens. Theo, the mellow one, gets very excited. Fresh bowls come out, and he has a lot more to kick.
Since the delivery, his family says, he's had "an absolute blast." The new bowls join what they call an ever-expanding collection, and a few still get used for meals.
Save"He is the happiest dog in the world," they say. Most dogs want what's in the bowl. Theo wants the bowl.
