Terrier puppy tries to catch his own shadow

The couch is full of sun, and the puppy has just figured out he is not alone on it. more

Something dark sits right next to him on the cushion. When he moves, it moves. "Maybe it's a shadow," someone nearby tells him, then wonders out loud if it is a little bug. It's a shadow, his own, and he has never met it before.

The couch is full of sun, and the puppy has just figured out he is not alone on it.

He tries tracking it instead. Nose low, he follows it across the couch one step at a time, checking the cushion as if the thing might be hiding inside. "There's nothing there, is there?" the same voice asks. He keeps looking anyway.

Still hunting for the shadow, the puppy sniffs along the couch.

The room is bright, with green leaves outside the window, and he's still at it. By now the person watching has stopped guessing what he sees. "He is the cutest thing I've ever seen," they say. "His face is perfect."
