Bobcat goes dock to dock without a splash
Some fishermen are out for blue crab on Pecan Island, Louisiana, when a bobcat turns up on one of the docks. more
The man filming grabs his camera, expecting the cat to go for a swim. Instead the bobcat shoots off the edge of the dock and sails across the gap to the next one. Not one paw touches the water.
SaveThe jump is exact. The bobcat pushes off with just enough force, never short and never long, as if the distance had been measured ahead of time.
That's what makes such a long leap look easy. There's no wobble and no second try, just one push and a soft landing. A parkour athlete would be proud of it.
SaveThe landing spot is a narrow post, not the lower boards beside it. From there the bobcat carries all that leftover speed straight on along the dock.
A moment later the bobcat is walking along the wooden dock at an easy pace, green trees and reeds all around. It looks like a move learned a long time ago.
SaveBobcats are sneaky and fast, and they need every bit of that to catch food and stay alive in the wild. These fishermen came out for blue crab and got to see it for themselves.
