How five dogs got a proper pig into the photo
In a house with five dogs, somebody has to be in charge. In this one, that somebody is a pig named Chowder. more
"I'm the boss and I say sit," he tells them. Telling dogs what to do is a lot of work, especially when they don't listen. Chowder is a very proper pig, and he has rules. No digging in the sand. No running by the pool.
The dogs, for their part, just want to be dogs. They cannot take a walk without stopping to sniff everything. They also take group photos, and Chowder is far too proper for that sort of thing. Asked if he will join them, he gives a clear no.
He has to teach them everything, like how to line up for treats properly. The treat is peanut butter, and somebody in line is already asking about seconds.
Then one day the dogs get together and decide to show Chowder how to have fun. He's not sold at first. "What is this for?" he asks. "I look like a turtle." But he gives it a try, and he loves it. "Hey, this is actually kind of nice."
SaveNow they take a family photo every night of the week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and on Friday, a family photo. Out in the grass and wildflowers, the big black and white pig stands with his dogs around him, one lying down and one sitting up straight.
Chowder looks over the pictures. "Wow, these came out great." Even a proper pig likes being a little wild sometimes, especially with five dogs in the picture beside him.
