Husky won't budge from the toddler's bed
"Guess what? Someone's in your bed." The someone is Millie, a husky, and she has taken over a toddler's nap spot. more
The bed belongs to Parker. Millie has been his pal since the day he came home from the hospital, and the family shares a house in Manchester, England, with three more dogs. Parker sits on the bed with his sippy cup. "Get out of my bed," goes the order, and Millie stays right where she is.
SaveInstead of a tug-of-war, the standoff turns into a game of hidey boo. "Are you ready? Hide from Dada." Parker ducks under the blanket, pops back up smiling, and they go again.
SaveThen food comes out, and so does a very polite beggar. "Please, sir, can I have some?" A beat later comes the warning: "Watch your paw, Millie."
Bedtime words follow. "Say night. Love you, love you, I love you." Parker is coached to stroke her belly, and the review is quick: "Oh, she likes that. She wants more." Then, to be clear, "Don't stop."
Near the end there is one more try. "Come on, Millie. Come on." She will not get out, and after a couple of tries Aaron gives up. "You just stay there." The blanket goes over the two of them together.
SaveLater, Parker is fast asleep and Millie is snuggled just inches from his nose, a paw draped around him. Aaron wrote that Parker has adored his huskies for two years now. He thinks Millie believes she is Parker's mother, and he links that to the puppies she had a few years back. Nobody asks her to move this time.
