Pack life for a baby in a husky onesie
Amelia has grown up in the middle of a pack. Three big dogs have been at her side since she was born, and they loved her from the day she came home. more
So it makes sense that Amelia likes to dress as one of them, in a gray and white husky onesie. "Pretend you're a dog," she's told. "You have to speak dog. Say woof woof."
When the dogs gather at their water bowl, Amelia gets down on her hands and knees in the grass and joins them. "Go on, baby dog, have a drink." She leans in the way they do, and it goes about as well as you would guess, with a wet face to show for it. The only one who misses the drink is Phil, who turns up late.
SaveWhen the dogs get boring, there's always Dad. Amelia climbs him as if he were a mountain, to a chant of "climb, climb, climb." Then she has to hold on tight, and she does, to cries of "strong, strong."
SaveShe plays fetch with Mom too, using a long stick of her own. Amelia does the fetching herself, like any good dog, and earns a "good girl" for it. Then Phil comes over. He takes the stick right out of her small hands and chews it into little pieces.
SaveAmelia gives him a side-eye. The grown-up filming tries to put a cheerful spin on it. Phil, Amelia hears, has made her a little stick, and then another, until there are enough to give one to Teddy and keep one for herself.
SaveMom trades the stick for a ball, which is safer for small hands, and tries to get a game of her own going. Amelia keeps drifting back to the dogs anyway. By the end her hands are dirty from the garden and Teddy is the one with the stick. She gives Mom a hug, then decides she would rather have Dad.
