A golden retriever dozes off to 'The Last of Us'

Maple the golden retriever rests behind her person, cuddled up with her toy elephant. He starts to play, and her eyelids begin to lose the fight. more

The song is the main theme from The Last of Us, a video game with a deep story. Gustavo Santaolalla wrote it, and it's a sad, lovely piece of music. Here it comes from one flamenco guitar in a dim room.

Early in the song, the guitar stands out against a dark room.

Maple is an easy crowd. Her eyes get heavy, then they close, and from there it is hard to tell if she's asleep or just resting them. Either way, she is not going anywhere.

There's even a camera set up inside the guitar. From in there you can see every pluck, and the strings stop looking like strings. They bend and wobble in long, lazy waves, and people can't stop talking about them. Someone joked that everyone else's strings are straight lines and his are squiggles.

The piece has fast parts, too, with lots of notes packed close together. It is not easy to play, and his fingers never seem to slip. When he digs in, he plays with real power.

Through all of it, Maple stays put with her elephant. A fan called her zen, and it fits.

When the last flourish rings out, he reaches over to pet her. Maple opens her eyes, slowly, and takes every pet she has coming.
