The orphan brown bears who became sisters

Jenny and Amy are orphans, and they're not related. Nobody seems to have told them that. more

The two Syrian brown bears live at the Orphaned Wildlife Center, a no-kill sanctuary that gives a home and care to young bears separated from their mothers. None of the bears there have blood relatives on site. These two built a family anyway.

Bears are known for raiding campsites. Jenny and Amy would rather snuggle than roughhouse, and they look drowsy enough to be thinking about hibernation.

Waking up from a nap does not split them up, either. Once they're on their feet, they stay close, cuddling or playing within reach of each other.

It's a calm scene, and the sound is part of it. One viewer wished it would go on longer, just for the quiet, the birdsong and the bears breathing.

A sanctuary can give a young bear a safe home. Jenny and Amy each came away with something extra: a sister, and someone warm to nap beside.
