When Chana slips, a blind elephant helps her up
Chana slips into the mud pit, and Ploythong cannot see it happen. She's blind, but she senses that Chana needs her and comes over to help. more
The two live at Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for rescued elephants. Ploythong watches over young Chana like a mother, and she helps until Chana is up on her feet again.
SaveWith that sorted out, the two walk together and bask in the sun. Other elephants wallow in the mud nearby.
Their tails swish back and forth, which is how you can tell they are happy. They make sounds at each other, and it's hard not to hear a conversation in them.
Then their trunks meet, trunk to trunk, almost a kiss. Viewers love the gentle way these two hold trunks and the care they show each other.
They make the mud look like a very good idea. Ears flapping, the blind elephant and the young one she looks after wallow side by side.
