At age 20, a shelter cat gets a family and a dog
A cat of twenty is the last one anyone expects to go home from a shelter. This one did. more
The family who chose him had a big gray-and-white dog. The two ended up sharing the couch, the cat lying down in front and the dog sitting up behind him, tongue out.
SaveThat's rarer than it should be. Puppies are usually the first to be adopted, and the older animals are the ones who wait the longest. Some of them run out of time. A cat of twenty is about as far down that list as it gets.
What the family found was a cat with a lot of love left to give. The dog seemed fond of him too, and the two would rest side by side on the rug. He made twenty look like just a number.
SaveHe had two more good years with them. The family later set their pictures of him to music and shared them, and strangers who never met him wrote in to thank them.
One of those strangers has taken in many senior cats and says they are among the most loving companions anyone will find. This one proved it from the couch, with a big dog at his back.
