Great Dane shows off for her swim teacher
Boone the pointer is the one who taught Maddie the Great Dane to swim. When he comes over to play, she has a few things to show him. more
First come the zoomies. The two dogs flash across the yard and back, again and again, so fast it is hard to keep them in sight. "Here they come," someone calls, and a second later, "There they go." Ellie, a third dog, skips the race. She watches from a distance, pouncing and bouncing in place.
Then Maddie heads for the pool. Her people give her the words as she paddles past: "Look what I can do. Remember, you taught me how to swim."
SaveThat's the sweet part. Boone, the guest, really was her swim teacher, and now the Great Dane gets to show him how well the lessons took.
SaveThe pool can't hold them for long. Soon it is back to zoomies, nonstop laps of the yard, and one of the dogs clears a muddy trench mid-sprint. "Who knew?"
Maddie is not done with the water. "Look at me go," she seems to say. "Come on, Boone, let's go swimming." In she goes, to a "woohoo" from the side. "I love when my friends come over to play."
SaveSomebody spots the funny part. The pointer is on dry land and the Great Dane is in the water, and that, they say, is a first.
SaveMaddie keeps paddling, and finally someone says it out loud. "Maddie, you're being a wee bit of a show-off." Then an invitation goes out to anyone still standing dry: "Come on in, the water's great."
