Walter the bulldog sings while mom tries to talk
Walter's mom is trying to talk in the car. Walter, a white bulldog with a black muzzle, would rather sing. more
"You cannot keep interrupting," she tells him, followed by a quick string of no's. Walter leans his head on the window, shuts his eyes and lets out a long, wobbly note, the kind an opera singer saves for the last act.
Save"I'm having a conversation," she says. So is Walter. His side of it is all vowels. This is the bit people quote back most, her sensible sentence and then his answer, one long RAAAHHH.
Then she tries sweetness. "Walter, I'm right here, baby," she says. When that gets her nowhere, she gets firm. "That's enough. Stop embarrassing me again. You're getting me in trouble." That does it. Walter goes quiet, looking a little shocked.
SaveThe word "again" says a lot. This wasn't his first concert. Walter sings when he's sad, when he's hungry and when he would just like more attention, and he is happy to do it in private or in public. This time the stage is the car.
For a lot of people, the name is half the joke. A dog with this much drama could have been called anything, and he's Walter. Others just admire the voice and say this dog has soul.
His mom stays patient through every bar of it. One fan once said she has the patience of a saint. Walter would probably call it a duet.
