A Chihuahua's day starts in an apron pocket
Cedric starts his day in an apron pocket, keeping an eye on the coffee. He's a very small Chihuahua, so the pocket suits him fine. more
His tongue pokes out to one side. "He looks very happy in the pocket," someone says, and that's hard to argue with.
His dad makes the latte, and the foam on top is meant to be Cedric in his apron. The cup goes right next to him for a side-by-side. The real Cedric has his tongue sticking out, and so does the foam one. "I think it's the same."
SaveThen it's time to go outside. Cedric, puffed up in his jacket, gets the job of door dog and helps push the door open. "Look at him go," his family cheers. "Great job."
It is sunny, and some of the snow has melted, enough to show some grass. Cedric bops around the garden, wiggling his little bum, and heads for his favorite poop corner, where the snow is still deep. "Be careful, don't fall in," he's told. He's too stubborn to listen and, luckily, very light, so he makes it.
After that he stops for a sunbath to charge his Chihuahua batteries. It has been a long time since the family has seen the sun. Soon the batteries are running low, but he still finds the energy for a snow facial.
Back inside there is breakfast in bed, and then his mom starts dinner. It's pork tongue, simmered with carrots and radish that are cut big enough to keep some texture. "I know it looks a bit disgusting," she says, "but it's gonna taste really good."
Cedric is the cooking assistant, which means he spends the wait having what she calls his best nap ever. When the tongue is soft, she cools it in cold water and peels the skin off like an egg. His plate gets the underneath bits he loves, boiled carrots and radish, an extra piece and then a bonus piece. He takes his food over to his dinner rug to eat.
He has plenty of beds of his own, but afterward he picks the arm of the sofa, with a throw pillow for a headrest. That gets a 10 out of 10. So does a pile of laundry. "He's having the best time of his life," his mom says, "but I have to fold it, Cedric."
The last stretch of the day is playtime with his dad. The tiny dog who slept through his own dinner being made is suddenly wide awake, with energy to spare.
