Luke the husky versus the shower
Most dogs have to be talked into the shower. Luke the husky is excited about it, which is not quite the same thing as helping. more
His dad has dressed for the job in bathing shorts, and he talks the whole way through in Russian-accented English. "Come on, let's go take a shower," he says, and Luke goes right along. "At least this one is excited about this."
The shower is a big walk-in one with a bench in it. "Cold, cold water," his dad says, and on it goes. Seconds later comes the first complaint. "Oh, that was a low blow. Luke, come on."
From there, Luke treats the water as something to catch. He snaps at the spray, lies down on the shower floor and tries to drink the water as it drains away. His dad knows his taste, too. "He likes it colder."
Then comes the shampoo, and Luke starts licking the soap. "Stop licking soap," his dad tells him, and Luke carries on licking. A couple of times he makes a break for it, and each time his dad grabs him and pulls him back into the shower.
Once he is rinsed, a towel goes over Luke and he takes off running around underneath it. "Here we got the monster," his dad says. He wants Luke wiped off well before the dog can jump on the bed, and Luke doesn't make that easy. "You think this is a game?"
SaveThat line gets quoted back to him again and again, and more than one person made the same pun, that Luke likes his water lukewarm. The most-liked comments say what anyone can see, that Luke is a lucky dog with a dad who adores him. His dad had already said as much, back when Luke was still covered in soap. "I like to give him my own showers, because he's the best."
