Sterling the rescued white fox has a lot to say

A white fox named Sterling was left at a vet clinic by the person who owned her. The vet knew where she belonged, and that's where things get loud. more

Sterling came from a breeder, not the wild, and she arrived at The Fox Journey Sanctuary in Michigan as a young kit. Jennifer Patton started the place. It is home to a number of foxes, and every one of them is close to her.

She shares her space with Puck, another white fox, and the two are opposites. Puck is shy and likes to be left alone. Sterling is outgoing and loves people, strangers included. She likes to play, too.

When someone comes to see her, she wags her tail, answers to her name and makes a stream of happy noise. More than one viewer hears it as laughing, and a couple swear she is saying mama. Puck doesn't always approve of the fuss she makes over strangers, but the two are a bonded pair and get along fine.

Sterling was adopted once. Then a change in the law sent her back to the sanctuary, and she has lived there since.

Jennifer grew up in the Michigan woods, where wild foxes were a regular sight, and she never got over how clever and playful they were. The sanctuary is what that turned into. Sterling, for her part, has a lot to say about it, all of it happy.
