Husky pup won't come down the stairs
A very small husky puppy stands at the top of a carpeted staircase with glass railings. Somewhere below waits the puppy's dad, with food and a lot of encouragement. more
From up here the stairs look enormous. The puppy creeps to the edge, front paws on the step, and peers down. Then the complaining starts, in whines and barks.
SaveDad sets some food on a step below and cheers the puppy on. The puppy stays put and keeps talking. So the food moves a little closer, and then a little closer again, until it's within easy reach. By then it's hard to say who is training whom.
SaveThings go less well when he puts the food farther down. The puppy flatly refuses. Then he tells the little husky not to be a baby, and the talking stops cold. For a moment the pup looks deeply offended, as though nobody has ever been so rude.
SaveSweet talk does no better. When he calls the puppy over, the answer is still no, and the husky lies down on the carpet, front paws stretched out and tail curled up, plainly done negotiating.
SaveThe stairs win this round. The puppy stays at the top, well fed and in no hurry at all. The trip down can wait for another day.
