Twenty rescue kittens and one patient human

Most people find one kitten plenty. One devoted cat lover adopted 20 rescue kittens and is raising the whole crew under one roof. more

There's a calico with white, orange and black patches, a black kitten with white paws, and eighteen others. Every one of them came from the local shelter. No two act alike, so the house runs on swats and pounces, with a hiss now and then.

Kittens start to play at about three weeks old. The stalking and mock fights are how they learn to be cats, and with twenty in the house nobody is short of a sparring partner. A curious calico stays close to a white tub with a yellow, banana-shaped toy inside.

Most people find one kitten plenty.

Teaching twenty kittens to play nicely and get along takes patience, and the cat lover behind Lucky Cat Corral seems to have a deep supply. Plenty of people find one or two cats a handful. Here it is one human and twenty kittens, and the hisses stay occasional. With this many, that counts as a win.

It's a lot of work. It is also twenty kittens who are no longer waiting in a shelter for a home, and one calico resting on something bright and colorful, taking a break from the crowd.
